Blue Marble develops socially impactful, economically viable insurance protection for the underserved. Our work aims to empower the emerging middle class and those on the margins of the formal financial system in meaningful and durable ways. Our collaborative model is unique in the industry: Blue Marble is owned by five global insurance companies that share financial investment, sector knowledge, project risks and contribute talent and expertise. We work across Latin America, Africa and Asia to manage weather risks imperiling food security and farmer incomes, and to expand affordable digitized access to personal and SME insurance products.
In Africa, we are addressing the financial vulnerability of financially underserved individuals through the provision of affordable insurance protection against extreme weather conditions. We started our first pilot in Zimbabwe, and we have since been growing continuously across Southern and East Africa in Mozambique, Zambia, Kenya and Ethiopia with plans to expand to West and Central Africa. These projects involve the development and roll-out of inclusive insurance products to protect financially underserved individuals against climate risks, as well as the management of all the stakeholders involved.
The Head of Africa will lead Blue Marble’s venture portfolio and strategy in Africa. This individual will build relationships with stakeholders in the region as well as grow and develop the Blue Marble Africa team. As a member of Blue Marble’s global management team, the Head of Africa will contribute to the development of Blue Marble’s global strategy, involving market-facing ventures in Africa, Asia Pacific and Latin America. This individual will also influence the development of Blue Marble’s global technology platform, products, and tools.
