About Blue Marble

We are a for-profit, social enterprise that aims to create markets for microinsurance by utilizing a new, mission-driven business model: collaborative innovation. We aim to narrow the global protection gap by designing and executing ventures enabling risk protection for the emerging middle class. Blue Marble is owned by five insurance companies collaborating to develop innovative solutions that protect the underserved. We currently operate in Colombia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Kenya, Mozambique, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Kyrgyz Republic, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Our partners include development international organizations, such as WFP, IFAD; as well as multinational companies with strong sustainability programs, such as Nestlé Nespresso. Our work includes the assessment, design and implementation of insurance programs.

About the project in scope

Blue Marble Microinsurance operates across Africa, Latin America, and Asia. In Indonesia, we address the financial vulnerability of marginalized farmers and communities by developing agricultural loan products integrated with risk mitigation components such as parametric insurance. This initiative aims to provide affordable and accessible financial solutions to farmers, helping them cope with the risks posed by extreme weather conditions. Our projects in Indonesia involve designing tailored loan products bundled with insurance coverage, managing key local and international partnerships, and conducting targeted awareness campaigns. By combining financial inclusion with climate resilience, we strive to enhance the livelihood security and economic stability of farmers in Indonesia.
