In Bangladesh, we are tackling the climate-related risks faced by small-scale dairy farmers by offering parametric insurance coverage that protects against the impact of extreme heat on livestock health and productivity. This initiative began with a pilot project in collaboration with local partners, targeting the dairy sector, which contributes significantly to national milk production. The project involves the design and deployment of tailored microinsurance products, bundled with veterinary support services, while effectively managing partnerships with key local and international stakeholders. This comprehensive approach ensures financial resilience and sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable dairy farmers in Bangladesh.
Working closely with the Project Manager – APAC, the Project Officer – Bangladesh will play a vital role in the successful implementation of Blue Marble’s parametric livestock insurance pilot project in Bangladesh. The Project Officer – Bangladesh will coordinate project activities, manage relationships with on-the-ground stakeholders, and provide specialized support as a livestock and market development expert. This role requires strong organizational and technical skills to ensure the effective execution of project objectives and contribute to the overall impact of Blue Marble’s initiatives in the country.
