Climate Resilience and Inclusive Insurance Take Center Stage at Asia Nat CAT
Asia Nat CAT Climate Conference highlighted the role of partnerships, digital innovation, and data-driven insurance in strengthening climate resilience across underserved communities.
How can insurance better protect the people most affected by climate change? That question shaped Blue Marble’s contribution to the 22nd Asia Nat CAT & Climate Change Conference, where Head of Asia Business Development, Vikas Singh, joined the panel discussion “Strategy in Focus – From Risk Insight to Decisive Action.”
The discussion explored how the insurance industry can respond to growing climate risks while expanding protection for communities that have historically remained underserved.
During the panel, Vikas highlighted that climate change is fundamentally reshaping insurability. Increasingly frequent and severe weather events are placing greater pressure on agriculture, small businesses, and gig economy workers, challenging traditional insurance models and reinforcing the need for more adaptive solutions.
He emphasized that collaboration across public and private sectors remains essential to scaling protection. Through partnerships with governments, financial institutions, and distribution partners, Blue Marble continues to develop digital end-to-end insurance solutions that improve financial resilience for underserved communities.
The discussion also reinforced the importance of innovative distribution models. Loan-bundled insurance, aggregator partnerships, and premium financing continue to improve access to insurance by integrating protection into trusted customer relationships.
Another key theme was the role of insurance in encouraging resilience. Incentivizing regenerative agriculture and climate-smart farming practices can help strengthen livelihoods while contributing to better long-term risk outcomes for both communities and insurers.
Looking ahead, Vikas highlighted the growing potential of artificial intelligence to improve customer value and underwriting. Combining climate, satellite, sensor, and customer data can support more accurate risk assessment, enable more tailored insurance products, and create better customer experiences.
Blue Marble thanks moderator Ludwig Oscuro Federigan and fellow panelists Oran Vongsuraphichet, Alexander Reyes, and Raymond Martin Aguilar for an engaging discussion focused on building more resilient and inclusive insurance markets across Asia.
