Nepal-China Floods: Standing With Affected Communities

The scale of the Nepal-China floods and their impact on communities across the border region continues to emerge.

The disaster has caused devastating loss of life, with thousands of people still unaccounted for as search, rescue and relief operations continue across affected areas. Current official data reported on September 1 puts the combined death toll above 1,000, with more than 4,400 people missing across Nepal and China.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected in Nepal and China, as well as the families waiting for news of loved ones.

We also recognise the extraordinary efforts of the agencies, emergency response teams and local communities working in extremely difficult conditions on both sides of the border. Nepal has mobilised resources for search, rescue and relief operations, while coordinating with neighbouring countries and the international community.

Blue Marble has active work in Nepal. At this time, our attention is firmly on our partners and the communities affected by this disaster.

In moments of profound uncertainty, strong partnerships and collective action matter. We stand with those responding, those supporting recovery efforts and, above all, the communities facing the consequences of this devastating event.
